VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION

Where: Waterfront Neighbourhood Centre (Formerly Harbourfront Community Centre) 627 Queens Quay West (South East corner of Bathurst and Queens Quay)

Volunteer Positions

 
Volunteer Position Description
Volunteer Orientation and  – Walk Package Assembly  All Volunteers to attend
Set-up Crew Responsible for setting up venue, heavy lifting required
Information Booth Welcome visitors to the event and answer general questions
Volunteer Registration and Check-in Check in volunteers as they arrive 
Finish Line Crew Finish line set up as needed (heavy lifting required), congratulate walkers passing the finish line while handing out ribbons and water to participants
Water Stations Wake-up early and join the excitement on-course by handing out beverages to passing walkers
Course Marshals Working at positions along the course, ensuring that the course is clear for walkers, as well as cheering them on as they run by. Excellent opportunity for gaining volunteer hours needed for graduation. This role is one of the most important roles along the course. Various times available, including very early morning
First Aid Crew Wake-up early and join the excitement on-course by being ready if someone needs first aid 
Lead Walker / Runner / Cyclist  Be the front point person - in front of the to keep group together 
Sweep Walker Be the back point person - follow the last walkers along the course, releasing course marshals along the way
Start Line Crew Set up the start line for our walk participants and assist with crowd control
Food Service Check for walk bibs and serve food to participants after the walk 
Gear Check In Store and retrieve participant belongings on walk day
Course Logistics Crew Responsible for getting all equipment on and off course – (Signs, Banners, tables, chairs, snacks, water
Clean-up Crew Responsible for maintaining venue site appearance
Childcare Crew Responsible facilitating activities for the children that are too young to walk 
Venue/Equipment Crew Provide general help with overall equipment set up, heavy lifting required
Turn-around Point Greeter Hand out water and granola bars, give directions to washrooms 
Music In charge of DJ services throughout the day
Photographer Take pictures of the whole day and other photo opportunities
Games Marshall In charge of fun and games for non-walkers
Photo Booth In charge of taking candid  pictures with props
